Pre-enhancement of chirp signal for inverse filtering in medical ultrasound

چکیده
In medical ultrasound imaging, the axial resolution is l i i t e d by the bandwidth of the transducer. The frequency response of the transducer usually peaks at its center frequency f, but falls off at higher and lower frequencies. In a linear frequency modulation (FM) pulse coding technique for imaging, the frequency can be swept across the entire bandwidth of the transducer. In this technique it is possible to apply at the input an amplitude boost function [l] that is the inverse of the transducer frequency response. Thus the output from the transducer is an equalized FM pulse, with a wider effective bandwidth. Subsequent auto correlation or pulse compression processing preserves this bandwidth and consequently improves the resolution. This concept has been evaluated experimentally in this paper.

A Comparative Analysis of Different Wavelets for Enhancing Medical Ultrasound Images
Ultrasound imaging is one of the popular imaging modalities used frequently by medical practitioners for diagnosis of diseases. But the problem with this technique is its low-resolution and the presence of speckle noise. This makes it difficult for the medical practitioners in studying and properly diagnosing the disease. In the past, researchers have enhanced the medical ultrasound images usin...

This paper concentrates on the Doppler spectrum characteristics of hybrid bistatic SAR experiments, i.e., TerraSAR-X/PAMIR where TerraSAR-X was steered as the illuminator in the sliding spotlight mode, and PAMIR, mounted on a Transall C-160, operated in the inverse sliding spotlight mode. The bistatic Double Sliding Spotlight (DSS) experiment has been successfully performed in March 2009. For t...

متن کاملA New Receiver Structure for Performance Enhancement in CSS
We propose a new receiver structure for chirp spread spectrum (CSS) based on the characteristics of the CSS signals which are alternatively transmitted in low and high band in order to improve detection performance. The conventional channel filter performs the filtering of entire signal bandwidth in a passband, but there happens a problem that excessive noise in neighboring sub-band is added wh...
متن کاملRadar Matched Filtering using the Fractional Fourier Transform
A matched filter is the optimal linear filter for maximizing the signal to noise ratio (SNR) in the presence of additive noise. Matched filters are commonly used in radar systems where the transmitted signal is known and may be used as a replica to be correlated with the received signal which can be carried out by multiplication in the frequency domain by applying Fourier Transform (FT). Fracti...
